Privacy

The short version: this website collects as little as it can, keeps nothing it doesn't need, and never sells or shares your information for marketing. Here's the detail.

Who we are

CarePlan.au is run by Colin Dixon, a sole trader in Mallacoota, Victoria, ABN 68 758 286 944. When this page says "we", it means Colin. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Because the personal help service can involve health information, we treat everything you send as if it were sensitive.

Reading the site

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the site running and secure.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, such as which guides are read most and roughly where visitors come from. It collects things like the pages you view, how long you stay, the type of device and browser, the site that sent you, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. Google sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and similar) to tell one visit from the next. We see this only as totals and trends, never as a named person.

We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation, so this information isn't used to target you with advertising. Google handles it under its own privacy policy, and it may be processed outside Australia. You can block Google Analytics on every website with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. The site works the same either way.

Promotions for Colin's other websites

Colin runs ads.oze.au, a small network that promotes his own websites, such as Love Mallacoota. Some pages here show a box labelled "Promotion" pointing to it. These are plain links: they set no cookies and share nothing about you. They are kept separate from the guides, and no provider or government body pays for them or influences what the guides say.

The free tools

The budget tool, invoice checker and claims tracker run entirely in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to us. If you choose to save your details or your claims list, they're stored in your browser on that device only, and you can delete them at any time from the tool itself. The "Bigger text" and colour settings are stored the same way.

When you send a message

The contact form sends your name, contact details and message to Colin by email, using a service called Resend. The website itself doesn't keep a copy. Please don't include Medicare numbers or medical details in the form. If they're needed later, we'll agree a safer way to share them.

If you use the personal help service

To help you, we may need information about the person receiving care, their provider, budget, statements and invoices. We only ask for what the job needs, use it only for that job, and only share it with the people you ask us to deal with, such as your provider or a worker. We keep records for as long as we need them for the work and for tax law, then delete them.

Payments

Contributions and payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach this site. Stripe tells us your name, email and the amount, which we keep for our accounts.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by using the contact form. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
