About CarePlan.au

I'm Colin Dixon. I live in Mallacoota, in the far east of Victoria, where I work in digital strategy and drone photography. I also look after my mum's aged care: working with her provider, organising local workers, and making sure their invoices get paid.

Doing that taught me how much of aged care is paperwork, and how much the paperwork decides whether care actually happens. The funding is often there. What gets in the way is not knowing what you're allowed to do, not being able to find a worker, and invoices bounced back over a word.

Remote towns feel this most. Few providers have staff here, so families rely on local, independent workers, and those workers carry the admin load that a big agency would. CarePlan grew out of fixing those problems for real people here. It's built for anyone in Australia with the same problems.

What CarePlan.au is, and isn't

It's independent. It isn't a government agency and it isn't a registered aged care provider. It helps you understand your options and work with your registered provider. It doesn't replace the provider, and the provider stays responsible for your funded care.

The information is free. Every guide links to the official sources and says when it was last checked. If something's out of date, tell me and I'll fix it.

The personal help is paid, and kept separate. Prices are on the personal help page. Contributions on the support page are voluntary and don't buy anything.

Interests you should know about

I also work as an independent support worker myself. I'm listed on CareVicinity and Mable, but I prefer to work directly, invoicing providers such as Trilogy Care and Let's Get Care. No provider or platform pays to be mentioned on this site. Where a guide names a provider or platform, it's because their published rules or fees are a useful example.
